    MythTV is an open source DVR application (like TiVo) that runs under Ubuntu Linux. There's a special combined distribution of MythTV and Ubuntu called Mythbuntu for those wanting to install both. MythTV will only playback over-the-air non-encrypted HD streams since no approved HD hardware decoder exists for Linux yet.

    MythTV is a homebrew PVR project that I've been working on in my spare time. It's been under heavy development since April 2002, and is now quite useable and featureful.
