To " teach them a lesson" is not a good enough reason to charge these teens for anything. They were doing what they thought was right; protecting a loved one. Unfortunately it was a bit of a huge misunderstanding, but if it wasn't intentional, I don't see why they should be charged for anything.

Wow how would you not drop the charges against your girlfriend's daughter for trying to protect her mother. (Yeah I know they broke up but still what a douche bag)
