    browser.tabs.showSingleWindowModePrefs isn't used in firefox 1.5 or later. Even if you were using less than 1.5, all it does is add the option "force links that open in new windows to open in..." to "Tools ->Options ->Advanced ->Tabbed Browsing". So it wouldn't have any effect on firefox's speed regardless. As my fellow commentors have already gone over pipelining, I'll leave it alone.

    I really wish people would stop thumbing up sites with incorrect information. For those that have used or considered the info on this site, please see the following explanation of the firefox pipelining trick. http://egonitron.com/2007/05/25/the-truth-about-the-firefox-pipelining-trick / Setting the value to 100 does nothing more than setting it to 8 would.
