Putting the shuttle together, just like a big toy. A really BIG toy!

Amazing to see just how big the whole project is.

Very cool pictures that show how a space shuttle is constructed and moved to the launch site. These are some very big machines.

AMAZING HOW MUCH WEIGHT IS ABLE TO BE LAUNCHED INTO SPACE. I WOULD LOVE TO GO FOR A RIDE. IF I COULD ONLY COME UP WITH THE TEN MILLION DOLLAR TICKET PRICE THE RUSSIANS CHARGE. THEN AGAIN IF I HAD TEN MIL. I'D STAY HERE ON THE GROUND AND LIVE TO SPEND IT. VICIOUS CIRCLE.

Astronauts are officially crazy. Brave, but crazy. I can't imagine stepping into the shuttle and strapping in to wait for literal rockets to force me into space. WOW. The entire shuttle program amazes and frightens me all at the same time. It's nowhere close to safe... and if something goes wrong you're just SOL. It's not like you can pull the handle and eject while in orbit or during reentry. Just... wow. Hats off to those who are willing to pave the way to the stars.
