Be impeccable With Your Word; Don't Take Anything Personally; Don't Make Assumptions; Always Do Your Best

thanks to my muse and teacher.. http://rumisong.stumbleupon.com ;P From the page: "1. Be Impeccable With Your Word Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love. 2. Don't Take Anything Personally Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering. 3. Don't Make Assumptions Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life. 4. Always Do Your Best Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret. "

The Four Agreements totally changed my way of thinking. It tells you things you already know but have failed to acknowledge. Such a tiny book and yet so powerful. If the whole world read this book I'm sure it would be a better place.

These are great principles, I have learnt them the hard way or have been taught them through life's experiences.

"The Four Agreements" go with me everywhere. Sometimes I forget I have it, both in words inside the book and inside my heart. I love it that today I am reminded of the agreements that are mine to embrace.

I thought this was a cute little book when I first read it. The four agreements companion book I thought was a chance to cash in on the success of the first book and would be a bunch of fluff and filler. Not so. It is very difficult to make the agreements and stick to them. This is a practice that is real and relevant to anyone anywhere on the planet. You don't have to be of any particular faith to learn from this. You can be an atheist. It goes to the heart of what it is to know something. Don Miguel has given the world a gift.
