This book covers so much of what is wrong with this country and what used to make it great. Conservatives and Liberals alike have done their worst here in tearing down a great country. Call me a hippie if you like but it makes my heart ache to see how many freedoms we once had that are now... more

@Ixbalam: How do you suggest we tackle those debates? Personally I don't see why there would be a debate at all -- both should be legal, plain and simple. If prostitution were kept illegal, problems where prostitutes are unable to be protected will continue. And why the hell would we make pornography illegal?

Um. Well meaning, but didn't come anywhere near to adequately tackling the complicated debates and social issues surrounding things like prostitution and pornography. Like most libertarianism, in fact.

its unfortunate that the best review this book seem to get was from Sting. This is something everyone needs to hear. And empty00eyes, thanks for beating me to that retort! The book mentions this in its overview quite specifically. and trill42, statutory rape doesnt really qualify as a consensual as one cannot legally consent to anything until a certain age, with good reason. The author mentions that one is responsible for oneself only at a certain age. So this argument to refute the author doesn't make much sense. As for domestic abuse, thats not even a consensual or victimless crime in the slightest. how in the world is it relevent? Just because a victim may not want to press charges, this does not qualify as consent before the fact. And you call the book simplistic. Anyway, spread the word of this philosophy! Just don't go coercing anyone now, haha! The logic can speak for itself.

To Kernunos and other who think along the same lines. It is the fact that drugs and prostitution are against the law that supports scumbags with guns. Do you think anyone would go out and buy drugs on the street from some guy holding a gun if drugs were available in the store at a market price. Are you out of your mind? Prostitutes would not feel the need to be protected by criminals if they were not being criminalized themselves. Liberty means choice, not control.

way too simplistic. Drug-use and prostitution are victimless crimes? I dont think so. They fund the scumbags who go out and shoot innocent people.
