The urge to hug a departed loved one again or prevent atrocities are among the compelling reasons that keep the notion of time travel alive in the minds of many.
While the idea makes for great fiction, some scientists now say traveling to the past is impossible.

Using Einstein Theory on time and distance, we can go back to the time we wanted to, taking into considerations the distance (in this case, measured in light years) and years. It is still possible to go back in time, i reckon .....

From the page: "Mathematically one can go backwards or forwards in the three spatial dimensions. But time doesn't share this multi-directional freedom." All I'll say is: once upon a time, our most enlightened minds were certain that the Earth was the center of the universe. Oops.

But if you haven't gone back already, is it possible to go back when you're there? (that is, can you go meet your past self, if you never met your future self?).

"In this four-dimensional space-time, you're only able to move forward in time," Liu told LiveScience. This doesn't make sense to me. My brain equivocates this statement, after going through paragraphs explaining time/space, to "in this three dimensional space, you're only able to smell the apple."

I believe time tavel is possible - not wholly probable due to way too many reason right now for most people. But I could have bought the theory of less possibility had this article been more coherent in its position.

Decent article for people who already have knowledge with space-time theory or physics; worthless to people who are unfamiliar and with a needlessly disheartening premise not supported in this article.
