    Ok, why do the husband and wife have to compete in their jobs. If they have jobs they like, why are they even worrying who gets payed or not? I agree with bendab, this is stupid, but sadly, it's how people think now adays.

    I appreciate the feminist point, but it worked exactly the opposite in my parent's household... dad is now a junior level tech and mom is managing a region.

    Here is my feeling: 1. Before having a child, if the wage or job status disparity is to the advantage of males, this represents a problem with the system that should be addressed (but not necessarily by legislation-we may just legislate ourselves another issue). In this respect, I could be considered a feminist. 2. It is reasonable that if you want children as a couple(or single mom/dad) that you have to make a trade-off. Employers should not be obligated to compensate maternity/paternity leave (it should be their choice). They also should not be obligated to honor the employee's seniority as if they never stopped working when they return. That is all.
