Look at all of the different ways that the Hebrews tried to get around "saying the Lord's name in vain." Now I would just like to know for what reason that was forbidden, you know, anthropologically.

This site has proper names of God, which are, mixed with words which are used as descriptive names of God. The main difference between a proper name, and a descriptive one, is that you would not pray to God using a descriptive name by itself. Example: I do play "Yahweh help me", I don't pray "jealous help me", but I could pray "Yahweh, you who are jealous, help me"; I hope you can see the difference. Now as to the proper names of God. Yahweh is the Old Testament name of Yah-Hoshua (which itself is the shortened form of the name Yahweh, which is Yah, and Hosea or Hoshua). There are many compound forms, of the name of Yahweh, that you can find if you study the Tanakh (Old Testament); but, none of them is more precious to those whom He has redeemed by grace and through faith than His name Yah-Hoshua (Yahweh our Saviour; or, Yahweh our Salvation - they're both conveying the exact same message). I have received some criticism for the extra h that I place in His name; but, I am doing that so that people who are seeing it will hopefully be able to pronounce it correctly as they do. Not as "Yah-oshua" but as "Yah-Hoshua". Or even more technically, Yah-ho-shay'-ah. http://bible.crosswalk.com/Lexicons/Hebrew/heb.cgi?number=01 954&version=kjv If you go to that Crosswalk Bible lexicon page, and, then you play the clip that helps you to pronounce Hoshua (ho-shay'-ah), as the Jews do; then, you will see exactly why I am doing that (spelling His name that way). Amen, and amen. http://teddyhcraig.stumbleupon.com http://weeklyreflectionsofchrist.bl ogspot.com http://www.youtube.com/user/teddyhcraig
