Klassy discovered 22 months ago- A fascinating Philippine Supreme Court ruling that documents a trial involving Max Soliven and Art Borjal of the Philippine Star. The many issues weaved into the trial include privilege communication, freedom of the press, and libel. There is also a good definition of the word "libel" here, one that takes into account reckless disregard whether proven to be true or not and malicious imputation. There is also an issue raised regarding the difference of disclosing the affairs of a "public figure", thereby defining what it means to be a "public figure", to what extent of a "public figure's" affairs can be disclosed to the public, and where to draw the line. Fascinating.
