 unixomega rated 40 months ago- i've been using ad-aware for a longggggg time now. do not pay for it, tho... i mean if you really like ad-aware, buy the pro edition. but i suggest you use ad-aware in conjunction with spybot search and destroy, because spybot s&d has a registry protector that alerts you to registry changes...

- Spybot S&D doesn't multiply the number of definitions by a constant, inflating the number of things they claim to protect against. Spybot doesn't rootkit your system, either, and it doesn't create a metric crapton of bogus registry keys to make it harder to remove.

- lot of bullshit about buying the pro version. Use spybot search&destroy instead, it won't be that commercial.
Btw, since I'm running Linux this is totally useless for me.

- No such thing as "cream of the crop" software these days. Each suite detects some things better than others. I personally use Adaware, Spybot, and Hijack this.
