So, yeah. I just worked out that that iScrobbler plugin lets last.fm tell my iTunes what random tunes to select so that iTunes can reinforce the things that last.fm tells me that I like. It doesn't offer me any control. I cannot even listen again to songs i have previously listened to. It's great for discovering new songs, but that's it.
