- Well, I guess it's interesting, but it strikes me more as fanfic than a novel. The author basically takes turns imitating Heinlein, Asimov, Ellison, and Poppy Z. Brite. Personally, I dislike Heinlein, and I've never been a huge fan of Poppy Z. Brite (I did, however, go through a phase where I thought the offensiveness/obscenity was intriguing).
I guess it's interesting to see how someone melds all these cliched concepts (Big Brother as a computer, the ethics of AI, AI ethics, the hubris of humanity, the hubris of science, man playing God, etc, etc, etc) together into one technobabble-infused adventure, but I feel like I've read this this story dozens of times already. In fact, there was probably a Star Trek episode like this. - Well, I guess it's interesting, but it strikes me more as fanfic than a novel.
