"matthewbhere" may be right to criticize this as an inflated figure, but if so, he is missing the chief reason why it is even possible to publish such estimates and that is that the occupying armies have pointedly refused to collect meaningful statistics of their own. Why do we suppose... more

From the page: "It is at least 10 times greater than most estimates cited in the US media, yet it is based on a scientific study of violent Iraqi deaths caused by the U.S.-led invasion of March 2003. "

American War Deaths Since war began (3/19/03): 4169 The British military has reported 176 deaths; Italy, 33; Ukraine, 18; Poland, 21; Bulgaria, 13; Spain, 11; Denmark, seven; El Salvador, five; Slovakia, four; Latvia and Georgia, three each; Estonia, Netherlands, Thailand and Romania, two each; and Australia, Hungary, Kazakhstan and South Korea, one death each. This is disgusting! Is GENOCIDE the aim? Next time you fill your car with gas/petrol and complain of the price think 'What price blood?'

Just as Matthewbhere stated, the misinformation here garners a thumbs down. That being said,we must all closely monitor the upcoming election and begin holding the media folks to the highest degree of accountability. Also,I strongly suggest anyone not familiar with Ron Paul and the issues he's supporting to Google him and watch the many videos available at Youtube and educate everyone you can without access to the web about the heroic and patriotic American.

The number is shocking and sobering. It is at least 10 times greater than most estimates cited in the US media, yet it is based on a scientific study of violent Iraqi deaths caused by the U.S.-led invasion of March 2003. That study, published in prestigious medical journal The Lancet, estimated that over 600,000 Iraqis had been killed as a result of the invasion as of July 2006. Iraqis have continued to be killed since then. The graphic above provides a rough daily update of this number based on a rate of increase derived from the Iraq Body Count. (See the complete explanation.) The estimate that over a million Iraqis have died received independent confirmation from a prestigious British polling agency in September 2007. Opinion Research Business estimated that 1.2 million Iraqis have been killed violently since the US invasion. This devastating human toll demands greater recognition. It eclipses the Rwandan genocide and our leaders are directly responsible. Little wonder they do not publicly cite it. more

Our government says that we are protecting our interests, obviously those interests don't include the Iraqi people as they claim in the next breath! Over 1 million killed since 2003.
