    The July/August issue of Dwell brings us this beautiful desert home in Pioneertown, California (not too far from Three Junipers, actually). The home was designed by architect Lloyd Russell for Jim Austin, an entrepreneur who wanted something simple.

    Unfortunately, the desert I live in reaches sub-freezing temperatures with alarming regularity. So, unless this house is prodigiously insulated, I think I'll pass.

    Like the idea. has some similar ones when travelling by Yacht through the pacific. They live very openly. Has to include some security though, and wind protection when it gets excessive.

    why can't I live where I could actually have to think about this as a possibility??? Igloos work better up here... brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
