Much like aikido in philosophy --- an attack is misdirected energy, so you redirect it.

Very articulately formatted and expertly executed one's responses to verbal humiliation can counter verbal attacks.

when confronted with such a person, after 'bout the third interruption i ask, "pardon me for being so blunt and asking this question, IS IT JUST WITH ME, or are you always this rude during a conversation? ya know stepping on my words before i have a chance to finish a sentence." the "pardon me" usually gets their attention. did this with a young officer during a road block. he actually had the good manners to turn red. it he hadn't i would have told him, "let's finish this conversation with your supervisor watching."
