diannelise rated 13 months ago- Unless the $ comes down, the only YouTube I'll be watching will be from my home pc. Earlier this month, we reported that Apple had struck a deal with YouTube to get its massive library of online videos converted to the MPEG 4 h.264 codec for playback on the AppleTV and upcoming iPhone. Today Apple issued a press release announcing that YouTube content is, today, available on the AppleTV and will be available on the iPhone at launch on Friday, June 29th. Apple today announced that iPhone users will be able to enjoy YouTube's originally-created content on their iPhones when they begin shipping on June 29. A new Apple-designed application on iPhone will wirelessly stream YouTube's content to iPhone over Wi-Fi or EDGE networks and play it on iPhone's stunning 3.5 inch display. In addition, Apple announced that YouTube is now live on Apple TV. Users can download the free software update using Apple TV's built-in software update feature, and then easily navigate through YouTube's familiar video browsing categories or search for specific videos. YouTube members can also log-in to their YouTube accounts on Apple TV to view and save their favorite videos. At the moment, approximately 10,000 of YouTube's online videos have been converted and more will appear each week until the entire catalog has been converted sometime this fall. h.264 video is the format of choice for the iPhone due to both its high-quality encoding results and the fact that the iPhone features h.264-decoding hardware which can playback these videos without generating a high load/power draw on the iPhone's CPU (which is almost certainly an XScale).

skidmarks rated 16 months ago- Sadly. I am a slave to my iPods.

wuzgar rated 18 months ago- Used to loath iPods until I've decided that my 45Gb music library required something better than your average mp3 player. (Creative sucks anyways - user feedback). Apart from that, nice site
