So the earth is warming...got it. Yet there is no proof whatsoever that we are causing this warming. The earth goes through cycles, in the past it's been much colder than it is now globally (think ice ages), and it's also been much warmer in the past than it is now (England had a mediterranean like climate and grapes grew in the wild there). More recently, pre-1850, temperatures were around about where they stand today. There wasn't tons of technology and pollution to make the earth warm up, it was all done naturally. We can't say that because all of the sudden we are noticing steady increases in temperature that we are the cause. There is no proof of this, only nutbags that scream the end of the world is coming and if we don't do something about it, our grandkids won't be able to enjoy this earth like we got to. To sum this up, yes i do believe in global warming. No I don't believe in man-made global warming. There is no proof of it, and the temperatures follow the same patterns experienced in the past. Everybody please stop drinking the kool-aid and stop falling for this BS. (Oh and by the way, read the reports, it's funny how they prove things by saying it is "likely" that hot days outnumber cold days, see Synthesis Report 2007: topic 1.1,1.2)

The IPCC provides superb, comprehensive assessments of the best knowledge to date on climate change and its impacts. The basis for the assessments is the peer-reviewed (vetted) primary literature. Reports, many of them freely downloadable as pdf files, are authored by the world's top scientists; the reports are focused and well balanced. Executive Summaries in the reports are less technical but still excellent summaries for the non-scientist. I find the IPCC the best non-biased source of climate change information anywhere.

Hardcopies of the Summaries for Policymakers + Technical Summaries are available for free in the 6 UN official languages upon request to the IPCC Secretariat. Hardcopies of the full reports can be purchased from Cambridge University Press. A limited number of free copies are available for academic institutions from developing countries and countries with economies in transition upon request to the Secretariat. The full Synthesis Report will be available on the website within a few weeks."

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has been established by WMO and UNEP to assess scientific, technical and socio- economic information relevant for the understanding of climate change, its potential impacts and options for adaptation and mitigation. It is currently finalizing its Fourth Assessment Report "Climate Change 2007". The reports by the three Working Groups provide a comprehensive and up-to-date assessment of the current state of knowledge on climate change. The Synthesis Report integrates the information around six topic areas.

The IPPC provide a wealth of relevant information. I believe that human beings are making a contribution to the problem; but that there is also a natural phenomenon, and that steps must be taken to ameliorate the problems which are occurring.

The role of the IPCC is to assess on a comprehensive, objective, open and transparent basis the scientific, technical and socio-economic information relevant to understanding the scientific basis of risk of human-induced climate change, its potential impacts and options for adaptation and mitigation. The IPCC does not carry out research nor does it monitor climate related data or other relevant parameters. It bases its assessment mainly on peer reviewed and published scientific/technical literature.
