reneesarah rated 14 months ago- An interview by Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, for "Thinking Allowed" with Robert Frager, Ph.D- transpersonal psychologist and Sufi Sheik. I went to one of Dr Frager's/Sheik Ragip's Sufi meetings to check it out in the last week (8/25/2007). The women all wear headscarves; when there is prayer, they stand behind the men to pray, and when they do Zikhr the men get in a circle and chant and sing, while the women stand in a line off to the side, and their job is to sway back and forth in rhythm in response to what the men are doing. This is a pretty concrete description of the meeting, and I mean them no disrespect. Sheik Ragip's talk was very inspiring, and everyone was very kind and generous of spirit. And I'll take my Sufism without shunting the women off to the side or the back, thank you.
