Yes, Synergy can do this... without encryption and with a horrible user interface. As scix said, fuck off, this is freeware, if you don't like it, don't use it. Don't thumb it down without even using it. For all you know, it's better for its specific domain than Synergy.

Thumbing it down without using it, because it's closed-source and tied down to Windows. Stop whining about everyone who thumbed it down - you can't whine something into being liked. Evidently, people don't like this. We don't have to try it out to make a decision - the licensing & the incompatibility with any non-Windows computer is a perfectly valid reason to think this is shit.

Wow, people are insane. Of course there will be multiple applications that do the same thing (e.g. Photoshop, GIMP, Paint.NET, etc.) each with their own pros and cons. Following that, there will probably be one that is superior all the other applications BUT it does not mean it is perfect. Competing applications will usually have different methodologies about accomplishing their task, and these differences promotes innovation. Innovations leads to better applications, which in turn improves the experience of the end-user. Therefore it is foolish to dismiss an application that works as garbage just because there is an alternative with a better feature set.

I've always used Synergy. It's especially nice because it's cross-platform.

Would have ignored this and gone about my day as I normally do with the majority of pointless crap stumble sends my way, but yeah, as several people have pointed out, the existance of Synergy makes this app pretty poinless. Note to 'olenkim' and 'scix': Go fuck yourselves, jesus it's not even like giving the page a thumb down even has any effect. Don't thumb it down without using it? Yeah, right, I'm gonna go install windows on two of my boxes just so I can try out a software KVM (hardly exciting or inovative software), I don't think so. What's the point in a peer review system when dumb fucks like yourselves whine and bitch when someone dares to have an opinion.

Didn't synergy do this forever ago? Why do you need encryption or authentication? I think it's safe to assume that two machines on the same desk probably share a trusted network with each-other (e.g a crossover cable). If they don't for whatever reason, synergy just uses sockets, so you are free to use it over a VPN or SSH, there's no point in building this into synergy itself. What the hell's wrong with Synergy's GUI? You configure the server, point clients at the server. What about that do you need a GUI for? Why isn't it open source? Why isn't it cross-platform? What is the point of having two (or more) computers running on the same desk, if it's not to have the ability to run a different OS on each one? Why can't you just have a windows machine with two heads? A thumbs down isn't insulting this guy or his work, I don't understand the point of telling us to fuck off. Thumbs down just means "no more like this". I'm not interested in it. Why does it piss you off that I don't have the same opinion as you, it's pointless.
