Interesting concept indeed. I suppose this might work for those living in milder climates. I would be very interested in seeing this concept tested.

It's an intriguing concept. I wonder how you deal with termites, though. Also, like the plants that form it, such a house is suited only to certain climates, like the Midwest or East Coast. For areas that such as Arizona and Southern California, that get ample sunshine but little rainfall, the rain collection / filtration system would likely be impractical, better use of solar might be in order, ficus would need irrigation to survive, and termites might be a problem. I wonder how you'd adapt the concept of a living home to that environment.

Teraforming your living space. Control the way trees grow to form a shell for a living house. Makes much more sense than cutting them down to build dead houses.
