- It's always painful to hear how torture is still a technique practiced in the 21st century. Just as painful is to hear about the lack of transparency, unholy alliances with nations that torture on our behalf, and our government's inability to see how confessions and information provided under duress tend to be fabricated and worse than worthless, they're misleading.

The U.S. government-sponsored program of renditions is an unlawful practice in which numerous persons have been illegally detained and secretly flown to third countries, where they have suffered additional human rights abuses including torture and enforced disappearance. No one knows the exact number of persons affected, due to the secrecy under which the operations are carried out.

Disgusting watching US politicians lie about what happens to people that are being held illegally in inhumane conditions. If it were US citizens being treated this way, would it be allowed? Of course not, and yet many in the US now wonder why the country is hated by people around the world.
