JIR rated 11 months ago- From the page:
This is very easy to do and with the help of Netstat which is already installed on Windows XP will detect to see if you have Spyware, Malware or anything else that shouldn't be running on your computer
Faster than Spybot SD or asquared.

lummox99 rated 11 months ago- I always forget that this is available. This is good stuff. I'll have to watch Jsanderz stumbles and see what other great info shakes loose!
yourparadigm rated 11 months ago- Or you could get a scanner like "SpyBot Search and Destroy" which is going to detect things that netstat won't. This post is pretty useless.
billybobgandhi rated 10 months ago- netstat command is underutilized. It's a good place to begin when users suspect something with their PC rather than immediately jumping to run an anti-malware app that if not used correctly, can do more harm than good. For example, although one of my favorites is Spybot, I had an incident which it ended up flushing out the TCP/IP binding. Though it was an easy fix (once I had time to research it), I could have saved myself a lot of time by handling the malware less 'harshly' with other tools and utilities.
SafetyChris rated 11 months ago- Yes, windows can use the dos command line...
This is a nice way to check active connections to your computer. You MUST pair it with a good spyware remover (SpyBot Search and Destroy is the best bet). Also interesting to check before and after running SpyBot to check what it caught or if there happens to be something that may need more serious attention.
