Organoponicos, as they are called, show how a combination of grassroots effort and official support can result in sweeping change, and how neighbours can come together and feed themselves. When the food crisis hit, the organoponicos were an ad hoc response by local communities to increase the amount of available food. But as the power of the community farming movement became obvious, the Cuban government stepped in to provide key infrastructure support and to assist with information dissemination and skills sharing."

- Brilliant-of course it is the solution grow yr own before Monsato gets ya Also recommend The City People's Book of raising food Helga and William Olkowski Rock dale Press inc Emmaus Pennsylvania- they get food production for one family down to 1 hour perday and use rofs and balconies as well as the usual plot though theirs is a tiny bit of land Also looking up the Australian Broadcasying television show "Gardening Australia" Which has lots on organic gardening and all sorts of tips and rerunns for free 1975 ISBN 0-87857-102-7
