From the page: "Lake Mead's elevation is 15 feet lower than last year at this time! Lake Mead is 118 feet below maximum elevation! Lake Mead has fallen to 46% of capacity! "

You are witnessing a typical result of the greed factor in Vegas. The calculator does not lie. All it means is, spend more on water conservation and import and less on sin. Quite simple. Gravity dictates that the water cannot leave the planet.

Lake Mead's elevation was low because Colorado was in a drought. Colorado has had 2 years of heavy snowfall, Lake Mead's elevation will come back up. That maximum elevation is far higher than the normal use elevation. The drop in 2000 was because they had been keeping the elevation higher than they needed for the past 15 years and lowered it. Also, my first job was working on that boat- The Desert Princess.

OH NO!! LAKE MEAD IS DRYING UP!! Just like in the early fifties, the early sixties, and (somewhat) the late eighties! But this time, it will become a desert for sure!!!

So, what happened in 1955 and 1964? Did it spring a leak??

And it took 19 years to raise the level 120 feet after 1964, but only 1 year to raise it 80 feet after 1955?

I think somebody's messing with the floodgates...

Lake Mead is ready to take this country in a new direction! Lake Mead is not to be trifled with. Lake Mead talks about itself in the third person. Lake Mead is not Bob Dole.
