Excellent post on what could improve journalism. I see a lot of good journalism, and a lot more TERRIBLE journalism in the course of my day-to-day. I agree that the tips that this fellow lays out could make more people stop to pick up a newspaper, or actually take a moment out of their day to read something other than the newsticker.

Thumbs up because I'd like to see more about reinventing journalism; however, as a reader, I doubt one single idea in this article would actually lead to a piece more being more interesting, educational, or enjoyable to read. They're pretty basic rules and don't address the problems that make most journalism irrelevant.

These are Ten Things Writers Can Do To Reinvent Journalism. I like most of them. Smart suggestions.

I have to give this a thumb up. This is a great page that gives tips on how to reinvent journalism. The suggestions make it seem possible to get journalists to function well. Thanks go again to The People's Warrior for passing many links on to me, which to my shame I don't always attribute to him. He's a great guy, and worth a visit, so take a second and see what he's doing.

Quit trying to "make a difference." You are there to report the news, you are not there to make the news. Since this person neglected the single largest problem among all those biased "journalists" out there, it's a failure and gets a huge thumbs-down.

From the page: "This is a follow up post to Maybe itâ€s journalism itself that is the problem. Itâ€s another thought exercise in trying to figure out how to discover what journalism should be to better serve todayâ€s society."
