Houses of the Future Homes, sweet homes... So what if they don't include your own personal "Rosie"--the Jetsons' good-natured, frilly-aproned robot housekeeper. These six futuristic houses are light years ahead of their time in their innovative use of environmentally sustainable materials, rainwater recycling, solar panels, and overall coolness.

A very neat site. Not much privacy though.

From the page: "The 2004 Houses of the Future project which will feature six houses, each made of a different base material. Each architect-designed house will be environmentally-sustainable, affordable and futuristic"

I enjoyed exploring this site. Six houses for the future, all unconventional by today's standards. The materials are all familiar: concrete, steel, timber, glass, cardboard, clay. But the design is so futuristic, it's a challenge.

Awesome, awesome site! I am so glad there are people thinking like this. Fronm the site: Each house design had to be: * Pre-fabricated for easy transportation, and to allow erection on site in less than 4 days; * Environmentally sustainable with sensitive use of materials, rainwater recycling, use of solar panels and passive solar design; * Compliant with the NSW BASIX ratings tool; * Designed by an Architect; and * Futuristic in appearance and use of domestic space.
