He was killed as he prepared to launch a Poor People's March, calling for solidarity among ALL poor people, black and white and all other, against fundamental economic injustices, including a military-corporate alliance that spends our country's wealth on weapons, instead of on the root of wealth, our people.February 1st I went to our Washington State capitol, Olympia, with a group of other homeless and formerly homeless people and hundreds of supporters, to lobby for housing and homelessness issues. Yesterday, February 5th, I went to Ft. Lewis with a thousand-plus other people to rally in support of Lt. Ehren Watada, who is being court-martialed for refusing to participate in an illegal war. Please honor the men and women who made Black History by acting on the principles they honored. Don't just admire history -- make it.
