Great article. I don't agree with the oil change though. For the price of an oil change at Jiffy Lube or Valvoline (~$20) You're not gonna save much, or any money doing it yourself. Plus, you have to dispose of the used oil, properly. Just don't let them sucker you into the "Your [insert random car word here] filter needs to be replaced.

My parents lived like this. Spam and baked beans were a staple in our house for years. The scrimping and saving paid off and they retired comfortably. We may need these skills soon.
