It's wrong about the best place in January being Australia. Believe me, I live here, and it gets really hot. Actually, it's very good if you go to Tasmania, as it's very beautiful as long as you bring warm clothing.

Temperatures do not 'soar into the 90's' in Darwin in January. They might soar into the mid-30's because temperatures in Australia are recorded in celsius. In any case, even in the middle of 'winter' in July the average daily maximum in Darwin will be at least 28C.
