FlightDreamz rated 2 months ago- Disgusting the way rights against unlawful search & seizure and privacy are being stomped on. This article does offer some useful advice however.

seafarer314 rated 2 months ago- Very good information here about securing files on your computer.

Alcoolex rated 2 months ago- Ah well, it's not like 1984 train wasn't doing a hell of a lot of noise. People just don't wanna hear it.

TonyBroomfield rated 2 months ago- I cannot for the life of me think what it has to do with a US court. Mass Infringements of rights and Liberties is surely something requiring a Mandate, and as the Article says, "Other Countries may well follow suit" Well LA DEE F******g DA And I am buggered If I am going to wipe off anything that I have spent 6 years accumulating. I suggest doing the other thing, when in doubt do the opposite of what is expected. Fill your 2002 Quattrochip Terrapinbyte hard drive with a heap of total(Clean) bollocks, bind it up good with a shovel full of encryption, and hand it to them on a plate. Stick a few worms and doomthings in a seperate partition that you dont go near anyway and let 'em get on with it sailor. And when they have trashed your gear? Why go to court, and see if you can get the same silly-born bastard that dreamt this lot up to award compensation. My Laptop is an extension of my brain in actual fact, and they wouldnt want to poke about in there too much....even I dont do that. Thanks for that Serendipity7 I feel better now

thc-hell rated 2 months ago- From the page: USA "border agents can search your laptop, or any other electronic device, when you're entering the country. They can take your computer and download its entire contents, or keep it for several days."

shitshitshit rated 2 months ago- total FUCKING BULLSHIT!! just mail your laptop!..thats what i would do... dont forget that there is a thing called "data mining" so your info is KEPT AND LOGGED!!!!!...evil bastards..

BambiCNI rated 2 months ago- From the page: "Last month a US court ruled that border agents can search your laptop, or any other electronic device, when you re entering the country. They can take your computer and download its entire contents, or keep it for several days. Customs and Border Patrol has not published any rules regarding this practice, and I and others have written a letter to Congress urging it to investigate and regulate this practice. But the US is not alone. British customs agents search laptops for pornography. And there are reports on the internet of this sort of thing happening at other borders, too. You might not like it, but it s a fact. So how do you protect yourself? Encrypting your entire hard drive, something you should certainly do for security in case your computer is lost or stolen, won t work here. The border agent is likely to start this whole process with a please type in your password . Of course you can refuse, but the agent can search you further, detain you longer, refuse you entry into the country and otherwise ruin your day." Shouldn't people be given the exact rules that they will be 'judged by' at ours and others' borders? And should that be 'just 'cuz' or should there be probable cause?
