From the page: "Six of the 10 largest companies on the globe come from one of the oldest and historically most carbon-intensive sectors in business: oil and gas. Between them, the oil majors shown in our table account for 91% of the total emissions of CO2. That says a lot about the scale of the challenge we face in moving to a low-carbon world."

The 10 most polluting companies have been named and hopefully shamed. A BP planetary death complex (aka oil refinery) Oil and gas (headed by the delightfully 18th century ExxonMobil) make up 6 of the 10, while car manufacturers (headed this time by the hopefully soon bankrupt General Motors) make up 3 of the list. Wal-mart is the only retailer on the list. A vigorous cock-punching goes to ExxonMobil, Chevron, Conoco Phillips and Toyota for being the four who have increased their CO2 production since 2005-6.
