Given the way the world is set up, 'big business', finance and governments are the major forces that that can make real impact on environmental issues. Sony, Nokia, Nike, and Hewlett-Packard plus 8 others have unveiled a plan to "take all necessary action" to limit the increase in temperature caused by human activities. I hope this is an omen of much better things to come from business. We desperately need responsibility and a sense of the existence of a future after the next round profit reports. Banking, finance and insurance direct and control most of the investments and money supply, but they've been silent on these issues until very recently. Short-termism is killing us. Now the people with the money are realising it will kill them and destroy their wealth, too.
