- CALIFORNIA PUBLIC SCHOOLS TO TEACH CLIMATE CHANGE By Chris Welch in Climate Change, Green Politics | February 16, 2008 Senator Joe Simitian (D) of Palo Alto, California has introduced a state senate bill that would require all California public schools to teach "climate change" as a part of the regular science curriculum. This measure has already passed the California state Senate and now heads to the state Assembly. As you can imagine there are plenty of people not too supportive of this bill, many say that the science is not clear and this is nothing more than political propaganda. I for one would encourage discussion on this issue and see nothing wrong with this being part of the curriculum. The argument that there is not enough empirical data or significant research on the subject sounds like a perfect reason to bring this into the science room. Seriously, our nations future walks the halls of high school's across the nation. Let's at least give them an opportunity to study the issue.

enfpkimberly rated 8 months ago- Hurray for Walmart? Yes, Walmart is doing something right. Wow, consumer pressure is making a difference! Wal-Mart expects to sell only concentrated detergent in all of its U.S. stores by early May 2008 -- more than 800 million units over the next three years. The transition will occur in waves beginning in the Southern region in October, extending to the North and Midwest by February and finishing in East coast states in April 2008. (I assume this should be 2009 but it was like this in the article.) The commitment will save more than 400 million gallons of water, more than 95 million pounds of plastic resin and more than 125 million pounds of cardboard. For water alone, this is the equivalent of 100 million individual showers. Since approximately 25 percent of the liquid laundry detergent sold in the United States is sold through Wal-Mart stores, the potential savings in natural resources through the entire retail industry could be four times as much.
