You can rate restaurants, books, movies, etc., but the site, at least at this point is primarily for rating/finding restaurants. Goodrec is short for "Good recommendations". You can rate a restaurant with a thumb up or down, write a short review and mark it as a place you would like to go. Your reviews can be private, public or share with friends.I found this site because they have an iPhone/iTouch app - which is pretty great. On the slightly negative side, lots of restaurants are NOT in the database and the organization when browsing seems chaotic to me. At least the former problem (the larger of the two) should be fixed as more people use the site. At least I hope so. Great idea.
