Captain-Murphy rated 11 days ago- From the page: "Tom,
Obviously your intentions are good, but thinking that MADD today is all about mothers who have lost family members due to drunk driving, well, you like many others have been snowed. Yes, many of their voluteers are similarly good-intentioned people, but this organization smells a little. According to their 2006 IRS Form 990 (available on Guidestar.com), they are supposed to be a 503(c)(3) public charity.
Yet, according to the their 2006 990, CEO Charles Hurley earned $225K plus bennies. Their their director of field operations, earned $196K plus bennies. Not exactly a bunch of volunteer moms. They also list three other senior managers that each earn more than 100K plus bennies. All in all, their list of fundraising, administration, and management officer salaries totals more than $1.1 mill, not including bennies. Their total compensation bill was more than $15 million.
They also paid political consultants, and other professional services firms a total of $407K. Furthermore, they spent another $5.7 million on â€oepublic awareness” firms such as DialAmerica (a firm that identifies itself as telemarketing company). These fees and salaries are justified by how much money these folks brought in for MADD: $53 million according to the 2006 990s. The organizationâ€s IRS forms say that they spent $40 million on â€oeprogram services,” but provide no real accounting of how that was spent. No accounting of how much they spent where WHATSOEVER. Instead, they provide a bunch of BS statistics about alcohol. However, they do provide a state-by-state detailed accounting of their equipment depreciation.
I urge ANYone considering donating to this organization to ask some tough questions about where the money goes, and to check out their 990s. In my opinion, it is a front for a Religious Right neo-Prohibitionist political movement that may possibly be engaging in political activities inappropriate for a charity."- From the page: "Tom,

rattler201 rated 11 days ago- I completely agree in every way. The game clearly doesn't glamorize driving drunk at all and there is no reason to start this fight. It emulates real life! In real life, you can drive drunk, but you shouldn't. Same in the game. Drunk driving is definitely a terrible thing, but making a simulation realistic breaks no laws and does not promote drinking and driving. Just be good parents and we have nothing to worry about. Oh wait.

TopherGZ rated 11 days ago- From the page: "When the ride home part comes up, you can either wait outside the bar to sober up, or take a cab, or (FSM forbid) drive Nikoâ€s own car to get the friend character back home." I dig this just for the reference to FSM.
