    I can tell that there is something interesting here, but it would help if there was some explanation of the method behind measuring these traits. The way it is it's just a bunch of pretty maps that have no real explanation.

    Matches with my own experience...the one thing that sucks the most about living in nebraska is that it is anti-geek at least compared to Seattle...of course it is dirt cheap to live here and the people make the effort to appear nice if only in a shallow and thoughtless way...versus Boston which is full of assholes but at least if you earn their respect they behave openly how they actually feel. I think levels of duplicity are also regional.

    I'd say that people here in Louisiana (from which my father escaped to California in 1959, and where I have been marooned for 14 years) are more paranoid than neurotic.
