  • Bush Supresses

It is hypocritical of the U.S. to claim to be a free country and chastise other countries when we are not walking our talk. Do we believe in and allow free speech in this country or not? Unless all of us are willing to support the work of those with the courage of their convictions, another... more

From the page: "On the pretext that there was no permit for a three foot long folding table that the media placed their microphones on, the police intervened in the middle of the press conference to announce that it was an unpermitted activity."

From the page: "While the momentum for the Sept. 15 Peace/Impeachment demonstration grows, the Bush Administration is going to extraordinary lengths to suppress the mobilizing for this mass demonstration. Less than 18 hours ago, National Park Service Police turned a September 15 Press Conference, held in front of the White House, into a chaotic scene. On the pretext that there was no permit for a three foot long folding table that the media placed their microphones on, the police intervened in the middle of the press conference to announce that it was an unpermitted activity. Three people were arrested and are still being held in jail. They include Adam Kokesh, an Iraq war veteran; Tina Richards of Grassroots America; and Ian Thompson an ANSWER Coalition organizer."

Since when does a country that loves freedom need to issue permits to allow it's citizens to express "FREE SPEECH"??? Main stream media is silent. Why?

Another example of why alternative media is needed to get the word out.

The article itself states that it was an unpermitted protest.. It seems like it would be quite simple to get a permit to avoid these types of problems.. But I suppose that would be counter productive to getting shocking headlines of "Bush Suppresses "Impeach Bush" Press Conference".. I personally enjoy going to rallies.. But for some reason the well organized ones never get raided.. Must be the permits..

The article says that it was Bush's police that turned this into a chaotic scene. National Park Service Police was apparently trying to keep the peace, trying to break up what was going on. If the people weren't causing havoc in the first place, most likely the National Park Service Police wouldn't have had to do what they did anyway. Isn't it typical that they would have to ride a horse directly into the crowd of reporters and shocked onlookers? It's called "crowd control", and that's what the mounted police are for, right? I'm not saying that the issue they were protesting was wrong, but why make the police have to ride a horse directly into the crowd of reporters and shocked onlookers? Let's use other means of protesting things more peaceful rather than just stirring up violence like this. The impeachbush.org organizers should focus more on using technology to convince people to impeach Bush rather than resulting to something that will get people hurt. Sure, I don't mind a few emails if that saves someone from getting hurt.

No! I can't believe Bush would not honor Americans' constitutional rights - he's so into democracy, ya' know?! Bush has possibly unwittingly unleashed the foundation for military rule. He will always be known as the worst president and the one who has launched the decline of the country.
