I wholeheartedly agree with and support this list. However, there are atheists and scientists who are equally close minded about their beliefs which they loosely call theories. I'm not talking about the things that have been proven; just that which is still a theory or doesn't even qualify as a theory yet. For example, many scientists considered string theory horse poop just a couple of generations ago, but it is now the leading theory amongst scientific circles of how the universe could have been created. Scientists, atheists, etc. are human, too, and as such, they are just as susceptible to the same philosophical, religious, cultural and scientific prejudices as anyone else. From the book "The Holographic Universe" by Michale Talbot, Yale Surgeon Dr. Bernie S. Siegel is quoted as postulating it is because people are addicted to their beliefs, which is why many people actually act like addicts when someone else attempts to enlighten them regarding some of their most deeply held beliefs. "The Holographic Universe" goes on to remind us that many of our world's greatest insights and advances were initially greeted with passionate denial and skepticism. In fact, some things, such as the Holocaust and the moon landing, are still denied by otherwise intelligent, educated people.Basically, there are pig-headed fundamentalists in all aspects of life.

yep. those who are most vehement about their beliefs tend to be the ones hitching themselves to the thinnest threads.

Funny. From the page: "You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt."
