"Oh no! I have spent far, far too much money on gadgets I do not need and now I have encountered limitations to these products that I will not make an effort to understand, but rather will decry as tyranny! Woe! Woe and lamentations!"

sharinlea2 is right. The author really needs to edit the post, which states completely incorrect information. According to his drawn-out follow-up article, publishers through Amazon can limit the number of devices a book exists on simultaneously. Amazon and the publishers can NOT limit the total number of times a book can be downloaded. Equally-long-winded follow-up: http://www.geardiary.com/2009/06/21/kindlegate-confusion-abounds-regarding-kindl e-download-policy/

DRM sucks.... but this guy's post has already been proven inaccurate and misleading MANY places. It wasn't that he could only download so many times... it's that you can only have a license for SIX products (which Amazon has never hidden). Simply call amazon and request them to delete one of your old products (ie one you sold, or the one that you update and thus seems to be a different device) and TA-DA... able to download.

At least now it's been brought into public view. But in all honesty, this is a new level of bullshit for DRM, and people were complaining about SecuROM.
