An interview with stand-up comedian Pat Condell - well worth a read.

Pat Condell speaks his mind. At least he can ridicule dogmatic religion and blind faith without resorting to foul language. Don't take him too seriously, though. His arguments are intentionally simple, and he likes to set up straw men so he can knock them down in humorous ways. Why? Because he's stand-up comedian. That's what he knows best. You either agree with him or you don't, but his wry delivery is top-notch.

From the page: "Remember, one person on their own canâ€t do much, but a million people each doing a little every day can change things very quickly." Pat Condell IS THE MAN!

This guy is a riot, and quite bright. I would love to see him return to stand-up if he could get the right venues. Maybe he could do a US tour -- although I can't imagine why he would want to take the time. We do need him.

Pat Condell really hits it right on the nose. An interview with the outspoken atheist: From the page: "As for my opposition to religion, itâ€s not about theology â€" I couldnâ€t care less whether God exists or not â€" itâ€s a civil rights issue. I believe everyone should be free to determine their own experience in life and not have it imposed by someone else. We donâ€t need our reality filtered through religious dogma any more than we need spring water adulterated with chemicals."

I do not completely approve of Pat Condell, as he made a video that insinuated that all Muslims were terrorists, which I felt was highly prejudiced. However, he is a voice of rationality when it comes to the existence of God and value of religion. We need more outspoken atheists, even if I don't approve of every aspect of this one. From an interview of him: "FT: What is your favourite thing about religion? PC: If nothing else it is genuinely inclusive. Nobody is rejected, as it doesn't require intelligence, only faith. Not that some intelligent people aren't religious. There are people with biochemistry degrees who devote their lives to proving Genesis true. Nobody could call those people unintelligent, but they are fools. The best thing about religion is that it's so transparently absurd it can't possibly last forever. I'm convinced it will only take a small shift in human consciousness for it to be laughed off the planet, and I hope I'm still around when that happens. FT: What can we do to resist the growing influence of religion? PC: We can speak out. That's what the internet is for, and it's the only reason my voice is being heard. We need to make as much noise as religious people do, and with as much certainty about our right to do so."

"This man is the epitome of everything I hate about atheists." Yup. That describes my feelings about it pretty well. I don't care what his beliefs are. He's an asshole about them, that's all that matters.
