A great tool to use when creating a short film or animation. Hopefully FreeSound doesn't alienate it's community like some of the other free sound database's have; this is doubtful as the entire community is about the Creative Commons. the free sound project gave my son soothing noise as a baby (field recordings of great big electricity producing dams) and amazing sound clips for my creative side to fiddle with. makes me really want to get into field recording.

A great source of sound effects and background noises which are all available for re-use and re-mixing.

Great even if you're not looking for a resource for films or music. I enjoy just listening to the more atmospheric recordings with headphones.
