    An interesting alternative if you're stuck on an underpowered machine and/or don't have any OCR software installed when you need to process an image into text.

    Worked for me - very handy! I only had a couple minor things messed up. Like any ocr - be sure to keep the original to double check there are no discrepancies so you won't be disappointed later.

There are many OCR software available though, most of them have more features but, you have to install them and they are commercial and costly. It doesn't make much sense to spend so much money on it if you'd be using it once in a bluemoon. But don't forget that you'll want to do a sanity check on that text that's returned to you, since there are a lot of complications that can come up in the recognition and translation process. But proofreading your text is a lot faster--and easier--than having to type it all in, one character at a time. This service is free, no registration necessary. We also do not need your email address. Just upload your image files. Free-OCR takes either PDF, JPG, GIF, TIFF or BMP format. The only restriction is that the images must not be larger than 2MB, no wider or higher than 5000 pixels and there is a limit of 10 image uploads per hour."
