Today's car of the day: Unvelied yesterday in Geneva Switzerland - the Spyker C8 Aileron. Interestingly enough, the all aluminum body and frame are a huge improvement over its first generation sibling. Spyker managed to improve the torsional rigidity by *40%* without adding any weight. That is impressive, if you ask me. I also like the fact, as they point out in the article, that the manufacturer has acknowledged to, and I quote reducing the bling element considerably, which reflects a trend Spyker sees in general: more sober designs, less exuberant. While I am not yet sure that I am in love with the overall look, I am more than thankful for a trend toward bling-free styling! However, I will reserve judgement until I find a couple more pictures that do the car a little more justice. While I am not overly thrilled with the interior color on this model, I am intruiged by its overall styling. Take a close look at the gearshift. That element alone totally caught my eye. For those of you that agree with me regarding color, the article did mention that while both the interior and exterior are available in 14 standard colors, picky customers may opt to have either in any color they wish. (I would select something other than that hideous orange. It is somewhat remeniscint of a nacho flavored dorito to me.) Finally, my favorite quote from the article: When Spyker started production in 2003, 80% of the customers ordered their cars without any audio system, the basic reasoning being that the engine provided all the sound one could possibly wish for. Hell yes! Turn off the radio and let the 400 ponies under the hood (actually it is a mid engine) sing to me!!! =)
