From the page: "6. Send compliments to the chef â€" especially when you are specific about what you like. I know it sounds dorky â€" but itâ€s almost always appreciated. If you really love the place, send a note to the chef. Very few people do this."

Last one kind of sucks. First 8 sound good, not that I'll ever be found hanging out at a 'hot restaraunt'.

So you want to be treated like a VIP in restaurants? Read this article then take action. ;) (I'm lovin' Tim Ferriss' blog by the way. Even the guest writers are top drawer.)

great tips if you need to feel like you're special by always getting the reservation at the "hot spots" in town. stupid - why not try basing your self worth on something other than being known at a restaurant. i eat out very often. i get treated great at all my spots. i treat everyone with respect - same as i want them to treat me. i always tip well. i'm friendly with all staff (not just maitre d's and waiters; there are also bus boys that come by your table) and don't complain if everything doesn't go 100% my way. i don't do any of this to get treated great. i do it cuz i go to places with awesome people that have a job they're trying to get done. i dont like to be disrespected at my job so i won't do it to others. so you could be good to people just to be a nice person - or you could do it just to get special treatment. your choice.
