Hanicka rated 22 months ago- Artist Beth Cavener
Her own words from the sculptures:
There are primitive animal instincts lurking in our own depths, waiting for the chance to slide past a conscious moment. The sculptures I create focus on human psychology, stripped of context and rationalization, and articulated through animal and human forms. On the surface, these figures are simply feral and domestic individuals suspended in a moment of tension. Beneath the surface they embody the impacts of aggression, territorial desires, isolation, and pack mentality.
BumbleStumble rated 23 months ago- Very expressive sculptures of animals with human emotions.
"The figures which have emerged use their animal body language in an effort to communicate their human natures: coy, desperate, lonely, and full of both fear and an unspoken longing."

dnomyarscott rated 15 months ago- creepy
MC-Spectrum rated 10 months ago- There's something so magnificent about these sculptures. Something about them seems dark, but so beautiful all at once.
mi-ly rated 14 months ago- Someone else has a review of this site that mentions a horse's bean bag!
wax0nightmare rated 22 months ago- Finally guff behind the art that actually has merit
mikem-uc2 rated 16 months ago- Magnificent, but I can only guess at the psychological meanings behind the art. If the artist used actual people's stories to "understand how these complex private experiences haunt our public personas," then each piece of sculpture should have a specific "complex private experience" behind it. What parts of the psyche is each piece trying to illustrate? Like, what does the chained horse represent? One could say it represents any number of experiences and feelings. All I want is a little clarity.
