Back in the 1950's the rangers at Yosemite would build this huge bonfire atop Yosemite Falls. Right at the point of dusk they would kick out the supports and all the fire would go pouring over while folks watched from below. They called it Firefall. It was one of the main attractions at Yosemite. After environmentalists figured out that our forests were dying out because they were too well manicured and weren't getting the fertilization they needed the Firefall stopped. This is a photo of a naturally backlit waterfall at Yosemite in the winter. It's likely they got the idea for Firefall from this little jewel.
