ar0cketman rated 9 months ago- Fire pistons are one of the most efficient fire starting methods around. They use compression to ignite fuel, like a diesel engine. Here is a supplier, with videos of them in action.

Kingreaper rated 17 months ago- Looking for a new, odd, way to light your cigarettes, which won't break down?Try this firepiston thing, they've gotta be hard to break. Not sure how easy they'd be to use though. This post (c) Kingreaper: He's a firestarter, compressed firestarter, since 1988.
AlphaDawg rated 3 months ago- Pretty cool.
TravisCagle rated 14 months ago- I like this, though I would never pay as much for a fire starter of any kind. Cool stumble nonetheless.
Coheed rated 14 months ago- More info about it here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fire_piston#Why_it_works)
I understood the basics, but I wanted to know exactly what they had in there ahead of time to catch the flame.

daverd rated 21 months ago- OK, forgotten old tech for starting fires. I like it, the engineer in me says, how'd he do that. There's feul in the tip, high pressure, like a diesel,, no obvious striker, i.e. no spark plug. Gotta build me one of these.
L0ewenzahn rated 20 months ago- Sir Vival - Rüdiger Nehberg discribes it in one of his books, but I didn't know, where the original idea comes from
Tricky-Dick rated 21 months ago- Never even heard of these. Definitely the neatest and most phallic lighter ever.
