thornick rated 5 months ago- This is a MUST read article on a guy who may save all our asses in the world energy crunch one day. It is amazing that someone could be this effective in fuel economy with little training. If he can ever spread his technology in a cost effective manner, he will be a savior. Unbelievable how inefficient our government and large car maker are!

spostareduro rated 5 months ago- Johnathan Goodwin can get 100 mpg out of a Lincoln Continental, cut emissions by 80%, and double the horsepower. Does the car business have the guts to follow him? "It's as a jet engine with a low whistle"..Running on grease from behind the local burger king!

bragadocchio rated 5 months ago- The modifications that Jonathan Goodwin makes to cars show the kind of innovation that could have a tremendous impact upon our lives and future. Detroit should be listening, if they know what's good for them .

badthing rated 6 months ago- Love the way Mr. Goodwin's mind is working on behalf of benefiting our planet using his field of expertise. See? never say never. ;)

Verena2010 rated 7 months ago- Awesome! Of course, scaling down is important too, but for those who can't or won't... And I am in favor of ingenuity pretty much wherever I can find it...

GreenIQ rated 7 months ago- "Check it out. It's actually a jet engine," says Johnathan Goodwin, with a low whistle. "This thing is gonna be even cooler than I thought." We're hunched on the floor of Goodwin's gleaming workshop in Wichita, Kansas, surrounded by the shards of a wooden packing crate. Inside the wreckage sits his latest toy--a 1985-issue turbine engine originally designed for the military. It can spin at a blistering 60,000 rpm and burn almost any fuel. And Goodwin has some startling plans for this esoteric piece of hardware: He's going to use it to create the most fuel-efficient Hummer in history.

cuy rated 7 months ago- From the page: "Mercedes BlueTec diesels, for example, include a four-wheel-drive sedan that gets 37 mpg and goes from zero to 60 in 6.6 seconds" But this guys efforts seem to dwarf the efforts of MB not to mention all of the US domesticated stock. Ugh, they don't care about us.

Rosenstern rated 8 months ago- Goodwin seems to be doing some amazing work. Yet it doesn't seem like "rocket science". It's not that Detroit doesn't have the guts to follow this, it's that they don't have the vision. The Big 2 and a half just can't get out of their own stodgy way. They are broken, bloated, inflexible and without imagination. They still think they can design, market, improve quality or manufacture overseas to get out of their current mess. They have absolutely no vision of the future and have stifled innovation so long that they no longer are capable of surprising anyone.

mrgarci1 rated 8 months ago- From the page: "With a $5,000 bolt-on kit he co-engineered--the poor man's version of a Goodwin conversion--he can immediately transform any diesel vehicle to burn 50% less fuel and produce 80% fewer emissions. On a full-size gas-guzzler, he figures the kit earns its money back in about a year--or, on a regular car, two--while hitting an emissions target from the outset that's more stringent than any regulation we're likely to see in our lifetime."

luigii2 rated 8 months ago- This guy's mods are really impressive
