impediment rated 9 months ago- Also known as syrphid fly, hover fly or flower fly. Adults look like little bees that hover over and dart quickly away. They don't sting! They lay eggs (white, oval, laid singly or in groups on leaves) which hatch into green, yellow, brown, orange, or white half-inch maggots that look like caterpillars. They raise up on their hind legs to catch and feed on aphids, mealybugs and others.

- Great!! Thanks for sharing this sight of beneficial insects.
aggrocultural rated 9 months ago- Beneficial insects are incredibly important in maintaining a healthy balance in our gardens. They actively search and destroy other insects whose dietary habits wreak havoc on our food crops. Here is a little list of some good beneficial insects - for North America, I presume - and how to attract them.
Props to the insects, man. If more people realized how important they all are, we wouldn't be using pesticides.

Remember, though: Many chemical sprays work on both bad and good bugs. To keep the good bugs in your yard, eliminate insecticide use in the areas where they live and work.
Awesome.
Natural rated 8 months ago- My garden already has some plants that attract beneficial insects. I plan to use this site's well-organized lists of plants and associated beneficial insects to select plants that will make the garden even more attractive to insects capable of controlling pests such as aphids.
